    Good to know

Most animal cafes charge by time: a base fee for the first 30 or 60 minutes plus an extension fee every 10 or 15 minutes. Some include drinks; others require you to order one. The prices on this site are the total for 60 minutes on a weekday for one adult, worked out from each cafe's price list. Weekend prices are often higher.

Typical rules: sanitize your hands at the entrance, no flash photography, do not wake sleeping animals, and only hold animals where and how staff allow. Many cafes have age limits for children. Opening hours and resident animals can change, so check the official website before you go.

This site does not rate or recommend cafes. There is ongoing public debate about animal welfare at animal cafes; we list only the facts each cafe publishes. Detailed pages for each cafe are in Japanese (57 with full descriptions); key facts are shown in English on the animal pages.
